About the site

Aashay.com is a repository of my writing, both personal and professional.  This includes (but is not limited to) blog posts, essays, and some of my fiction work.

About me

I work in the software consulting industry and I am a graduate of the General Engineering (Enterprise Systems Engineering) program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

In the rare event that I find some spare time, however, I like to keep an eye on the software & technology startup markets, particularly those who are designing web applications.

I am also working on a concept-stage stealth startup with a few of my friends.  If you are curious about it, I apologize in advance for my non-disclosure.  I must say however that I have become quite interested in Bay Area startup culture.

I was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, and while my mailing address is still there, I spend most of my time in California due to my work.

About my name

There are two “correct” ways to pronounce my name.  The “Traditional” way is pronounced AA-shay, emphasizing the “AAH” syllable.  The “Contemporary” method is pronounced “uh-SHAY” (but please not “uh-SHAI”).  Both are acceptable; while my family uses the Traditional method, I’ve responded to the Contemporary method since pre-school.

It is a Gujarati name that usually means “good intentions.”
